Week 2 of GYPO is coming to an end. This class is SO great. It is stretching me in so many ways. I just want to paint, paint, paint. If I am not painting or thinking about painting I am looking at other artist's paintings.
This is my painting for week 2 of GYPO. Our assignment this week was to pick another artist's work that we love and be use that for inspiration in whatever way we want. This was VERY challenging for me I have to admit.
For one there are SO many art works that I LOVE. How do you choose only one? I began with a different inspiration.
Matisse, Vuillard, Nathalie Lete, Bella Foster.See told you, lots of favorites! And this is only a small bit.
I wasn't feeling good about where I was going with this. So I stopped. I will go back into it. I think it has potential.
I ended up going with Susy Pilgrim Waters whose work (on the printouts) I just adore. I am not loving the colors of this mixed media piece on paper but I REALLY had a great time working on it. Love the stenciling, playing with paint, cut paper. Really fun.
The talent in this class is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! So many varied styles. It is great to see. I am so thankful that I am able to be a part of it!

Dana, your work is so lovely and I'm so glad that you're enjoying the class. Although I really wanted to take it {and still really do}, I knew that I just didn't have the time to devote to it right now. But I will definitely be signing up if they do it again in the summer!
You look to be having so much fun - and I am really enjoying seeing the resuts! :D
I am so grateful you are a part of it too. AND that you are sharing your experience with it. It's so interesting to see how you are breaking some barriers with your work, yet your painting are still unmistakably *you*
I love what you have done with week two. I have done nothing so far ...well started then binned. I need to re visit the beginner video and the curve!
I can see the potential in the first piece too. It's great.
Interesting to read that you don't like the colours in the second piece so much when I've just left a comment over in Flickr saying how much I love them.
Aren't you glad you signed up for the class? It's been so great so far. I haven't had any time to paint this week so ended up posting some older paintings as my week 2 contribution. But I still enjoyed all the posts and looking at everyone else's work. You're right, there are some really talented artists in the group.
You have a distinctive voice. I think I would recognise your paintings anywhere!
