Around here
* I got to meditate today with this cd while my daughter napped and my husband took my son out. This is only my 2nd time trying this and it was great.
*I am anxiously awaiting the rest of my painting supplies. I am going to stretch my own canvas. I really enjoy that part of the process.
* I sketched with colored pencils last night. Flowers and thoughts of growing things are keeping me going through the end of winter. We bought some bulbs yesterday. I have to restrain myself from starting any seeds indoors because last year I did it way too early and the basil and tomato plants were so big, so fast.
*This is a sketch from artist Susan Abbott. She does beautiful watercolor paintings. She travels and teaches and posts daily paintings to her blog.
*Another daily painter, Carol Marine. This piece is titled "Cherryguards".
She has been doing one small oil painting a day since 2006! I love her pieces! Don't you? Wouldn't it be great to do a painting a day? She says it takes her anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hrs. to complete a piece and 15 minutes to post her paintings to ebay and her blog. Here is a link to a demo of her painting.
*Have you seen the Crafting an MBA blog? It is blog devoted to business for designers and makers. A wealth of info.
I hope your weekend was great!

Dana

Well done on your medidation - you are inspiring!
Thanks for those links. And, while I would be great, I can't imagine doing a painting every day. I can't even manage to brush my own hair somedays.
I started meditating a few months ago, too. But, like you, finding time is the hardest part. I am so loving it, though.
And those bright colored sketches are just the thing for these grey days.
Congratulations on your meditation project! I've only meditated once, but the experience was wonderful!
Your links as always so inspiring! I've been doing some daily paintings, well not literally every day, but often, on my iPhone. It's a fantastic feeling, loads of fun, and I think the key is that you lower your own expectations, get something done in a short time, and get so many "results", it's like the baby step idea. Once you've made a lot, you're sort of activated! :D For me though, it's been 15-60 minutes per painting session. And that's what's been so doable too. Fun!
I discovered the CraftingMBA site a couple of months ago and it's really great! Wish there were more resources like that out there, and sites that talked more generally about creativity as well as offering specific tips.
Take care and hope your week is inspiring, meditative and creative! I also hope the worrying cloud has evaporated!
Sounds like a wonderful wonderful weekend! I love your sketched! Have a lovely merry happy week and love to yoU!
How wonderful that your husband is taking your son out so you can do something creative, isn't it lovely to be supported like that? your flowers sketch is beautiful, so sunny and hopeful.
thanks for your comment over at the wishstudio, I appreciate you taking the time to say hello :) I have bookmarked your blog and will be back by.

A lovely burst of colour on a cold and grey day - so glad I came over to look :D
I have only done that one day of meditation. I keep trying to wake up early to do it but my daughter decides she wants to be up too!
I know a painting a day would be hard to fit in but I think it would be so great to see and make progress. And Kate, I am sorry I am techno illiterate, you can do that on your phone?? Wow! I am so behind on all of that! And that worrying cloud is moving on. Thank goodness!
I don't even know if anyone ever comes back to read comments? Still haven't figured that one out.
Yes. I do. Sometimes. Come back to read comments. Especially at blogs I love, and of course only when I notice that the person who writes them responds to people's comments! :)
The iPhone has been such a creative playground for me. I deliberately didn't put my e-mail or rss feed or twitter or anything that can hog up so much time and be so distracting on my regular computer. And it's fingerpainting on the iPhone! So fun and low-tech while high tech at once!
Okay, now I'm going to order those two books through your referral links!
And I'm so glad about the cloud passing!!!
Hi Dana, your drawings are beautiful, thank you for sharing! Thanks for sharing the two artist as well. I love Susan Abbot's paintings. Her work shows such beautiful detail and the still lifes are gorgeous. Carol Maine's work is fabulous! And the daily painting demo was really interesting :)
